Before "Super Mario Bros." redefined the platforming genre, Mario and Luigi already starred in this fixed-screen 1983 arcade game, where you had to flip enemies coming out of pipes from below and then kick them off the platform, all under the pressure of POW blocks and increasingly numerous creatures. Atari licensed Nintendo's game to bring it to the 2600, with the graphical cutbacks expected for 1977 hardware.
It's a key piece for understanding pre-Super Mario: still no open world or scrolling, but already with the two-player cooperative platforming base that would define the franchise for decades.
