NBA Jam - Tournament Edition is the Atari Jaguar port of Midway's popular two-on-two basketball arcade, with its characteristic exaggeration of impossible dunks, players catching fire on hot streaks, and full NBA rosters. The Jaguar conversion, published in 1996 by Acclaim alongside Atari Corporation, was handled by High Voltage Software; Iguana Entertainment, on the other hand, was the studio responsible for the 32X version. Its arrival on the Jaguar added to the catalog one of the most popular arcade phenomena of the first half of the 90s, in a genre — arcade sports — the console needed to compete with the offering of 16-bit consoles.
