Phaser Patrol, written by Dennis Caswell and published in 1982 by Arcadia —which changed its name to Starpath shortly after—, was the launch title bundled with the Supercharger, the accessory that let the Atari 2600 load bigger games from cassette tape. It simulates first-person space combat clearly inspired by Atari 8-bit's Star Raiders, with the player defending their sector from the Dracon invaders aboard a ship with radar and energy systems to manage. It's one of the most ambitious technical demonstrations of what the Supercharger could achieve compared to a conventional cartridge of the time.
