QIX is the adaptation of Taito's classic arcade game, designed by Randy Pfeiffer, in which the player must claim portions of the screen by drawing lines while dodging the geometric entity that gives the game its name, along with other enemies patrolling the territory already staked out.
Its blend of reflexes and risk calculation — how much territory to gamble on each line — turned it into an influential action puzzler that spawned countless clones, and its place in the Atari catalog confirms its status as a timeless arcade classic.
