Quick Step!, written by David Johnson and published by Imagic in September 1983 for Atari 2600, pits a kangaroo against a squirrel in a platforming race on platforms that scroll upward: every jump onto a platform tints it the character's color, and every one that scrolls off screen already painted adds a point. Some special platforms, the "magic carpets," freeze the rival if they jump on them, which can cost a life if they get stuck near the bottom edge. It was one of Imagic's last releases for the console, and retrospective critics have singled it out as one of the best two-player games in the company's entire catalog.
