RealSports Baseball, published by Atari itself, was part of the RealSports line with which the company tried to position a more serious and detailed alternative within the sports genre, moving away from the more schematic versions it had offered before. It includes an elevated camera view of the field and controls designed to reproduce the different phases of a baseball game with a bit more fidelity. It's representative of Atari's effort to compete with Activision's and Imagic's sports simulations toward the end of the 2600's commercial life, when audiences were already demanding more sophistication in this type of game.
