Sky Skipper, a 1981 Nintendo arcade game designed by Genyo Takeda with the collaboration of a young Shigeru Miyamoto, has the player piloting a biplane that must drop bombs on gorillas to knock them out and open the cages where they hold animals and a royal family captive, then descend to rescue them before the gorillas can close the cages again. It received such a weak reception in market tests, both in Japan and the United States, that Nintendo ended up converting most of the manufactured cabinets into units of Popeye, its next release. Only one known original cabinet survives worldwide, today kept by Nintendo, while Parker Brothers published a conversion for Atari 2600 in 1983.
