Space Ace arrived on the Jaguar CD in 1996 courtesy of ReadySoft, the same studio responsible for BrainDead 13 and the Dragon's Lair conversion: like its sibling games, it's resolved by anticipating the correct move at the exact moment so the animation sequences — originally directed by animator Don Bluth for mid-80s arcades — advance without the protagonist dying. The plot follows Dexter, mistakenly turned into a childlike version of himself, in his attempt to rescue his girlfriend and reverse the spell. It's another of the last representatives of the movement-selection animated adventure genre that found refuge in the Jaguar's CD format, at a time when that style of game was already an almost archaeological rarity in the rest of the industry.
