Star Voyager is the first-person space-combat game Bob Smith designed for Imagic, published in 1982 for Atari 2600: the player commands the ship Star Voyager on a mission to protect the Capital Starport —which is never actually shown on screen— using missiles or a laser beam against the enemy fleet, while star gates transport the action to different zones of the galaxy. A two-player mode lets one player control the ship and the other, the rival fleet.
Its gameplay bears an obvious, though more modest in scope, resemblance to Atari's Star Raiders, published three years earlier for the same company's 8-bit computers. It's a good example of how Imagic sought to bring more ambitious experiences to the 2600's limited hardware.
