In the arcade, "Venture" combined an overall map view with individual rooms where the player had to dodge monsters and traps to gather treasure, an unusual two-layer structure for 1981. Coleco licensed the conversion for the 2600, keeping that room-by-room logic within the hardware's graphical capabilities.
It's an interesting piece for understanding the early steps of the action dungeon crawler in home video gaming, before the genre found more ambitious ways to represent dungeon exploration.
