Just like its predecessor "Summer Games" and its companion "California Games," "Winter Games" gathered, in its original computer version, several winter disciplines —skating, bobsled, ski jump, biathlon— resolved in a structure of consecutive events with accumulated scoring. Porting it to the 2600, already in the home stretch of its commercial life, forced a drastic simplification of each event compared to the computer versions.
It's another of the late conversions that show just how far the 2600's catalog was stretched, adapting even ambitious sports anthologies to the real possibilities of the original 1977 hardware.
