Cate West - The Vanishing Files follows the formula of the hidden-object genre so popular in casual PC gaming in the late 2000s: static scenes packed with items to find, combined with environmental puzzles and a mystery plot in which detective Cate West investigates a series of disappearances.
It's representative of how that genre, born in the casual PC market aimed at women, found a natural platform on DS thanks to the stylus, which comfortably replaced the original mouse click.
