Dragon's Curse is the TurboGrafx-16 version of Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, published by NEC in 1990 under a different name because Sega held the rights to the Wonder Boy brand outside its own platforms. Its premise — a hero turned into a Lizard-Man after defeating the previous game's final dragon, who must explore an open world by transforming into different creatures to overcome obstacles — made it one of the founding stones of what would later be called a Metroidvania. For much of the retro community, it's one of the best action-exploration games NEC's console ever had, despite arriving in disguise under a title that hid its true lineage.
