007: Nightfire took the Bond series' cinematic action formula and brought it to PS2 with a campaign that alternated between first- and third-person sections, plus a multiplayer mode that became a cult favorite among fans of console shooters of the time. It came out during EA's heyday as the franchise's licensee, when the studio still dared to experiment with the format before Activision took over.
Today it's remembered mostly for that split-screen multiplayer, a noble rarity from a time when online was just starting to show up on consoles. For anyone who grew up with the PS1 and PS2 Bond games, it's a time capsule of how spy action was conceived before the genre standardized.
