Modern Combat was DICE's console reinterpretation of the Battlefield 2 universe, with a focus leaning more toward individual action and less toward the massive warfare simulation of the PC version, while keeping the series' trademarks: large maps, vehicles, and objective-based combat.
It served as the entry point for many console players into the Battlefield universe before the series found its footing in the next generation, and today it's remembered as a solid shooter, though inevitably overshadowed by the entries that followed.
