The Dog Island is a rarity within From Software's catalog: a contemplative adventure, with no combat in the traditional sense, where the protagonist turns into a dog and must roam an island alongside other animals to reunite his pack and find his way back home. The project was tied to people who had worked on Ico, which explains its more unhurried, emotional tone, far from the studio's usual mechas and armor. It's one of those pieces that surprise given who made them, and today it's revisited with curiosity for how atypical it is within its developer's trajectory. A small, Japanese game, considerably gentler than its origin might suggest.
