Baroque originally arrived on Saturn and PC in Japan before Sting rebuilt it for PS2 and Wii, keeping its premise of randomly generated dungeons, permanent death, and a distorted aesthetic that links it more to body horror than to conventional fantasy. Atlus brought it West betting on the audience that already followed its stranger RPGs.
It's not a friendly or comfortable game: it punishes the player and forces them to start over again and again. That harshness is exactly what made it a cult favorite among those looking for something different within PS2's RPG catalog.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
