Race Driver 2 expanded on its predecessor's offering with a driver career spanning different motorsport categories - touring cars, GT, single-seaters - and a story mode that had the player climb from the lower divisions to the elite, with the German DTM license as one of its major regional draws. It's one of the most respected driving simulators of the PS2 era, appreciated for its demanding physics and the variety of its professional career, at a time when Codemasters was establishing itself as a genre benchmark in Europe.
