Chip's Challenge arrived on the Lynx in 1989, developed and published by Epyx, long before a Windows version turned it into one of the most recognizable pieces in the history of pre-installed computer software: the player must collect chips, solve key and sliding-block puzzles, and dodge hostile creatures to complete a hundred levels of increasing difficulty. Its logic-puzzle design, rather than reflex-based gameplay, set it apart from the rest of the Lynx's action catalog. It's one of the foundational pieces of the overhead collection-puzzle genre, and its handheld Lynx version predates by several years the massive fame the game would later achieve in the world of personal computers.
