Caliber 50 is a 1989 Toaplan vertical run and gun, in which one or two soldiers advance on foot shooting at waves of infantry, tanks, and helicopters, with power-ups that multiply firepower. It follows in Commando's wake but with the technical craftsmanship characteristic of Toaplan. It's one of the less cited run and guns in Toaplan's catalog, but it retains that careful enemy design and shot-pattern craftsmanship that distinguishes the studio within the vertical action genre.
