Amazing Island, developed by Ancient and Hitmaker for Sega in 2004, offers something uncommon within GameCube's catalog: a very deep creature editor -choosing a skeleton, drawing limbs, eyes, voice, and accessories- combined with an action adventure in which that monster, alongside a human avatar, travels across an island completing trials to cleanse it of a corrupting evil. The main draw was always the creative part: making your own monster and watching it take part in the challenges held genuine appeal for the young audience of the time, even though the surrounding adventure is considerably more modest than that creation tool.
