Atelier Iris 2: The Azoth of Destiny continued the sub-series Gust had launched as a bridge between its classic Atelier saga -centered on alchemy and item synthesis- and a more conventional JRPG in world structure and turn-based combat. Item synthesis remains the game's heart: almost any relevant item is crafted by combining materials gathered along the way. For anyone who enjoys crafting-focused, unhurried-progression JRPGs, it remains a solid entry within Gust's vast PS2 catalog, though it fell a bit into the shadow of the first Atelier Iris and the more recent Ateliers.
