Antz Extreme Racing arrived in 2002, developed by Supersonic Software and published by Empire Interactive, based on DreamWorks' animated film Antz, released in 1998. It offered races set across the four seasons of the year, with different competition variants: on foot, mounted on flying insects, or on a snowboard or surfboard depending on the level. The target audience was clearly kids, in line with the license behind it, with simple controls and colorful tracks. It also came out on PlayStation 2, PC and Game Boy Advance, part of the wave of movie-licensed games that characterized much of the family catalog of the time.
