Armored Warriors, developed by Capcom for the CPS-2 board in 1994, transplants the side-scrolling beat 'em up formula onto a battlefield of giant robots: players assemble and disassemble their mechs' parts on the fly, swapping weapons and torsos mid-combat. It's one of the most original titles in Capcom's brawler catalog. It's remembered as a rarity within the genre, appreciated by those who already knew Final Fight or Captain Commando and wanted something different: the mecha-part-combining mechanic gave it its own identity, still cited as an example of smart variation on a worn-out formula.
