Barracuda takes shooting action to the bottom of the sea: submarines, torpedoes, and the constant tension of dodging mines and enemies in a setting most shooters of the era ignored in favor of outer space or the sky.
It's a minor board within the underwater shooting catalog, a subgenre that never reached the popularity of its space-themed cousins, but that adds variety to the early history of the shoot 'em up.
