Battle Lane! Vol. 5 puts the player in command of a combat vehicle advancing while firing at waves of enemies, within the tradition of continuous-action war games that populated arcades in the first half of the eighties. The curious "Vol. 5" subtitle is more a marketing gesture than part of an actual series.
It's a representative piece of that formative stage of war-themed arcades, when the genre was still defining its basic conventions of pace and difficulty. It's interesting more for its place in that history than for offering anything not later perfected elsewhere.
