Best League is a typical case from the 90s European bootleg scene: Playmark took Jaleco's Big Striker as its base and re-released it with Italian Serie A teams instead of national squads, aiming directly at the local audience. It came out in 1993, right in the middle of arcade soccer's fever after the success of titles like Kick Off or Big Striker itself. It adds nothing of its own in terms of design — it is, after all, a rewrite of someone else's game — but it's a good example of how Italian bootleg publishers operated, adapting absent sports licenses to a market hungry for local soccer.
