Blasted was born from the ashes of a canceled prototype, International Team Laser, originally meant as a four-player experience to capitalize on the late-80s laser tag fad. Bally Midway converted it into a two-player shooter on MCR-68 hardware: each fires at cyborgs that invaded an apartment building, taking care not to hurt the tenants or catch return fire from the other player. It's a curious testament to how the arcade industry recycled failed concepts, and it's remembered today more for that production story than for having left a lasting gameplay mark.
