Break Thru, published by Data East in 1986, puts the player behind the wheel of an armed jeep that must literally smash its way through brick walls while shooting soldiers and enemy installations, in a steady-paced vertical scroll. The idea of destroying the scenario itself in order to advance was uncommon in the genre at the time. It's a solid example of the mid-80s vehicle shooter, the stage where the genre was still experimenting with different vehicle variants before the spaceship became established as the absolute standard.
