Burnin' Rubber is a mid-80s top-down racing game that adds weapons to the traditional circuit formula: besides dodging the rest of the pack, the player can attack rivals to knock them off the track, in a mix of speed and vehicular combat uncommon for its time. It's an early precedent for a genre crossover -racing with combat- that would only become massively popular years later, with series like Twisted Metal or Mario Kart applying the same idea on a different scale.
