Diamond Run was published by the KH Video firm in 1989, taking First Star's Commodore 64 classic Boulder Dash as a direct basis: the player digs tunnels through underground caves collecting gems while dodging falling rocks, rocks that can also be used as a weapon against enemies if their fall is directed cleverly. Red explosive charges add an extra tool for eliminating rivals or opening a path through walls.
It's one of the many arcade heirs spawned by Boulder Dash's success on home computers, bringing that physical-spatial puzzle logic to the arcade format, with shorter sessions and a difficulty curve designed for coin consumption.
