A.P.B. (short for All Points Bulletin) hit arcades in 1987 courtesy of Atari Games and earned its own place with an idea unusual for its time: instead of going straight after a single target, the player must build up merit points by stopping a succession of traffic offenders before being able to confront the main criminal, all under the constant pressure of a countdown timer. Atari Corporation adapted that formula to the Lynx in 1991, adjusting the city map and driving to the handheld screen. Today it works as a capsule of 80s police-comedy humor, with that arcade pace that punishes every second wasted looking at the map instead of chasing. It's not a gameplay revolution, but its chained-objectives structure still feels fresh compared to the linear chases of other games of the era.
