Air Raid, published by the small Men-A-Vision for the Atari 2600, is famous mostly for its cartridge: a translucent design shaped like a joystick handle, unlike anything else on the console. Inside is a simple vertical shooter, with the player's ship defending a row of buildings from a rain of enemy bombers, in the same vein as so many home alien-blasters of the early '80s. Its gameplay is modest, but its physical rarity turned it into a collector's legend: for years it was considered one of the hardest cartridges to find in the entire Atari 2600 library, and today it's valued almost exclusively for that scarcity rather than for what it offers on screen.
