On Duty entered as a candidate for the programming contest for the Lynx's thirtieth anniversary organized by Atari Gamer, where it finished in fourth place: it revisits the vertical-scrolling, constant-shooting action formula that Commando had popularized in arcades, with weapon switching and a pace designed for intense, short sessions. Its control design — one button to shoot or operate mechanisms, another to switch weapons — feels direct from the first minute. It's another sign of the vitality the Lynx programming scene still has in its commemorative contests, capable of producing solid arcade action with very limited development resources.
