Snail Against Squirrel, published by Bit Corporation in 1983 for Atari 2600, puts the player in command of a squirrel that must carry five nuts to its nest at the top of the screen, one at a time, dodging deadly snails along the way, a whole exercise in "nut management" where you have to calculate how far to climb before dropping the load and going back for the next one. It also circulated under the plain name Squirrel depending on the sales territory. Its absurd premise, combined with a simple but genuinely challenging design, turned it over the years into one of those rarities collectors defend as a perfect example of the creative —and sometimes outlandish— spirit of the 2600's late catalog.
