White Men Can't Jump arrived on the Jaguar in 1995, developed by High Voltage Software and published by Atari Corporation, as an adaptation of the sports comedy released a couple of years earlier: one-on-one or two-on-two basketball matches on street courts, with the same spirit of betting and verbal trash talk that characterized the film. It was part of the era's fashion of turning movie hits into licensed video games. It's one of the few movie-licensed games the Jaguar catalog received, and it works as a testament to a commercial strategy — adding Hollywood names to video games — that the entire industry explored enthusiastically during the nineties.
