CCE, one of Brazil's major unauthorized cartridge manufacturers, released "X-Man" as a direct reformulation of the Pac-Man formula, with a maze, pellets to eat, and ghosts to chase or dodge depending on the moment of play. It's one of the most fondly remembered titles from the thriving clone industry that kept the 2600 alive in the Brazilian market long after its decline in the United States.
Today it's a key piece for understanding South American pirate-cartridge culture, which coexisted quite naturally alongside official releases on local store shelves.
