4x4 Evolution arrived in 2000 courtesy of Terminal Reality, the Texas studio that years later would make Ghostbusters: The Video Game, with an approach closer to simulation than arcade: licensed trucks, visible body damage, and a career mode that rewards reading the mud, rocks, and slopes rather than flooring the accelerator.
It's one of the few serious off-road entries in Dreamcast's catalog, a world away from the pure speed of the console's other racers. It holds interest today for anyone wanting a contrast to Sega's flashier arcade fare: here the challenge is the physics of the terrain, not the stopwatch.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
