Akumajou Dracula Mokushiroku Gaiden - Legend of Cornell is the Japanese face of Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, Konami's second Castlevania for Nintendo 64, developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Kobe (KCEK), the same studio responsible for the console's first Castlevania. The title difference isn't incidental: while in the West it was sold as an expansion of the original with extra content, in Japan it was presented centered on Cornell, a werewolf with his own campaign, which gives the game a somewhat different narrative identity depending on the region.
It's an important chapter for understanding how Konami tried to carry Castlevania's gothic DNA into three dimensions before the saga found its definitive direction in Symphony of the Night and its handheld heirs. Playing it today means watching a studio still calibrating 3D cameras and combat, with more ambition than comfort of control.
