DK: Jungle Climber picks up the formula established by DK: King of Swing, with Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong moving across circular pegs and rails using mainly the shoulder buttons, in platforming levels loaded with barrels, classic series enemies, and bosses. It adds a plot about crystal fragments scattered across the world as a pretext for the journey.
It's a platforming proposition with an unconventional control scheme that sets it apart from the rest of the era's Donkey Kong games.
