Armored Core - Nine Breaker took the mechanical base of FromSoftware's series -mechas assembled piece by piece, tactical combat, and resource management between missions- and packaged it into a shorter experience oriented toward immediate action, meant as a gateway for those who had been left out by the complexity of the main entries.
Without the narrative ambition of Armored Core 3 or Silent Line, it still worked as a solid appetizer for genre fans, and today it's valued mostly for the freedom of unit customization, the series' trademark that years later would evolve into Dark Souls.
