Atelier Iris - Eternal Mana reworked Gust's classic Atelier series for a broader audience, moving away from the unhurried pace of its predecessors and toward a more conventional action-and-exploration JRPG, without losing the series' heart: alchemy as a tool for progress, with item crafting as important as combat.
It was the first Atelier to reach the West on a large scale, and it served as a gateway for an audience that would go on to follow the series for almost two more decades, turning it into one of the longest-running niche JRPG franchises in the Japanese industry.
