Auto Modellista, developed in-house by Capcom, stands out from the rest of PS2's racing games for its cel-shaded graphics, drawing cars and tracks with bold outlines as if they were a comic strip in motion. Behind that aesthetic choice is arcade-style handling, aimed more at immediate fun than simulation.
Its visual identity remains its biggest draw: in a genre dominated by realism, Auto Modellista offers an alternative that today is appreciated even more given how rarely that formula was repeated in later years.
