Beatmania brings to PS2 the formula Konami popularized in arcades: pressing buttons and using a simulated turntable to the rhythm of electronic tracks, laying part of the groundwork that later rhythm games would inherit.
Today it's valued as a historic piece of the rhythm genre, a direct ancestor of the wave of music games that dominated much of the 2000s.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
