Developed by Project Aces within Namco, it was one of the great technical releases of PS2's early years: spectacular aerial combat missions, arcade handling with a real sense of weight, and an unusual narrative twist for the genre, with the war told in parallel from the perspective of a girl who lives through it from the ground.
It remains one of the favorite entry points to the Ace Combat series, and its more sober tone -compared to later entries- makes it appealing to anyone seeking arcade aerial combat with some dramatic weight behind it.
