Aeon Flux arrived in 2005, developed by Terminal Reality and published by Majesco Entertainment, timed to the release of the film starring Charlize Theron, which was itself based on the cult animated series created by Peter Chung for MTV. The game put players in the shoes of the spy Aeon, with a third-person action approach built on acrobatics, stealth and unconventional weapons. Despite the weight of the license, both the film and the video game came and went commercially without much fanfare, and critics pointed to competent but unmemorable gameplay next to the visual charisma of the original material.
