Advent Rising arrived in 2005, developed by GlyphX Games (with Silicon Knights contributing part of the work) and published by Majesco Entertainment, with none other than writer Orson Scott Card, author of Ender's Game, co-writing the story. It was pitched as the first chapter of a trilogy about an alien invasion wiping out humanity, with a protagonist who gained telekinetic powers as the game progressed. The project had a troubled development and shipped with notable technical bugs that overshadowed an ambitious narrative premise. Majesco was going through financial trouble in those years, and the promised saga never continued, leaving Advent Rising as an unfulfilled promise remembered today more for its story than for how it played.
