Alter Echo arrived in 2003, developed by Outrage Games — the studio behind the Descent saga, recently acquired by THQ — and published by that same publisher. Set in the year 2850, it proposed a world where a substance called MultiPlast could transform into any shape thanks to the so-called Shapers, a power the protagonist used to switch between melee combat, shooting and stealth as the moment demanded. A time-dilation system allowed players to chain moves and special attacks against biomechanical enemies. It was the only title Outrage managed to finish under THQ's wing: the studio closed that same year, shortly after launch.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
