Alias arrived in 2004, developed by Acclaim Studios Cheltenham and published by Acclaim Entertainment, based on the espionage series created by J.J. Abrams that at the time launched Jennifer Garner to stardom. The game put players in the shoes of agent Sydney Bristow, with a mix of stealth, hand-to-hand combat and espionage gadgets in the style of the TV show, including the character's signature disguises. The production arrived at a financially rough time for Acclaim, which would close its doors a few years later, and critics received it as a competent adaptation but without much technical shine next to other action and stealth games of the time.
