Avatar: The Last Airbender arrived in 2006, developed by THQ Studio Australia and published by THQ, based on the Nickelodeon animated series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, which by then had become a phenomenon among kids and teens. The game closely followed the plot of the series' first season, with a third-person action approach where players controlled Aang and his companions, each with their own style of elemental control over water, earth or fire. It also came out on PlayStation 2 and GameCube that same year. It was the first of several playable adaptations the franchise would have throughout the decade.
